Advancement in Masonry comes in many forms, and further light has been shining at Jerusalem Lodge #49. Ahead of the Grand Lodge edict, WM Steve Hudson has routinely led the brethren in Masonic education, both formally and informally, adding great depth to the lodge experience. We have seen several brothers step up this winter by leading degrees. I again performed the EA, and likewise RW Brother Bill Deickler sat in the Oriental chair for an excellent FC degree. Our JW Mark Stumacher is preparing to take the big chair for an EA degree, and he is already impressing the officers with his proficiency. These opportunities have been possible due to the grace and guidance of WM Hudson, as well as the procession of strong new candidates seeking degrees. Several brothers have been active in traveling, and we encourage others to join our treks to nearby lodges. One way we have been enjoying fellowship is through the monthly Blue Lodge Council meetings, and now there is cause to meet even more brothers in the region: Jerusalem Lodge #49 was one of five lodges in the state to be re-districted recently. We now belong to District 2B, which includes lodges in Danbury and Sandy Hook. To assist in the personal pursuit of light, and good reading, we have posted a Masonic book list on the lodge website. It is broken into categories, with recommendations based on depth and degrees. This is a good resource for those looking to fill the summer months… in between assisting with the annual summer lodge spruce up! If you have not attended lodge recently, we heartily invite you to see how vibrant the lodge has become. And to find a way to advance yourself and the brotherhood. Fraternally, Jeff S.
