Brothers,

Thank you for giving me the privilege of serving this coming year as Master of our lodge. Stirred by such popular media as the “National Treasure” movies and Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol,” men of all ages are becoming interested in our history and symbols. It is an exciting time to be a Mason! We have entered and raised a number of new brothers this past year, and for the first time in years, we have a full officer line of non-Past Masters.

In the months ahead, we will be having more open programs and public dinners, including several at local restaurants.  Plus, I am hoping to pull off a “Lost Symbol” public lecture with advertising at the various bookstores.

This year, my focus will be on Masonic education and the relationship of our Craft in the context of Western esoteric tradition. Did you know that the ritual contains references to the Golden Ratio? Why do we care that the oil ran down on Aaron’s beard? What is the alchemical significant of corn, wine, and oil? What elements do they represent? What is the spiritual significance of Geometry as the most essential of the liberal arts? How does arithmetic relate to Gematria and the Kabbalah? Why was the verse for the Fellow Craft degree chosen and what does it signify? These are the types of questions we will investigate in the months ahead.
